2. About the service
Cowichan Paws is a community directory of dog parks, off-leash areas, beaches, trails, and dog-friendly locations in the Cowichan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. Listings are sourced from OpenStreetMap, Google Places, and community submissions. Park descriptions are generated using AI writing tools and reviewed before publication.
3. Accuracy of information
While we strive to keep park information accurate and up to date, Cowichan Paws makes no warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any listing. Park conditions, hours, rules, and features may change without notice. Some descriptions are AI-generated from publicly available factual data — while we review all content before publishing, errors may occur. Always verify current conditions before visiting any location, particularly regarding leash requirements, seasonal closures, and access rules.
4. AI-generated content
Park descriptions on this site are generated using the Anthropic Claude API based on factual data derived from public sources. These descriptions are original compositions created from facts only — no text is copied from external sources. We review all AI-generated content before it is published. If you notice an inaccurate description, please contact us so we can correct it.
5. User submissions
By submitting a park suggestion through the Service, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge, that you have the right to share it, and that it does not infringe on any third-party rights. All submissions are reviewed before publication. We reserve the right to edit, reject, or remove any submission at our discretion.
6. Limitation of liability
Cowichan Paws and its operators shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage to persons, pets, or property arising from use of information on this site. You use all parks and trails at your own risk. Always follow posted rules, leash laws, and exercise reasonable care for the safety of your pet and others.
7. Intellectual property
The Cowichan Paws name, logo, and original content are owned by Cowichan Paws. Park factual data is sourced from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence). Park photos are sourced via the Google Places API and are subject to their respective licences and attribution requirements. AI-generated descriptions are original works created by Cowichan Paws.
8. Third-party services
This service integrates with third-party APIs including Google Places (for photos and location data), Anthropic Claude (for description generation), and OpenStreetMap (for park data). Use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service. Cowichan Paws is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of data provided by these third parties.
9. Changes to terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
